A New Learning Era Unveiled at Parlier High School with Groundbreaking Ceremony
In an event that reverberated with excitement, the Parlier Unified School District celebrated the commencement of their groundbreaking ceremony for the innovative Career Technical Education (CTE) building at Parlier High School. This was a clear demonstration of growth and fresh educational prospects taking root within the district. Spearheading the project’s design, we find Darden Architects, and the construction journey is entrusted to BMY.
This undertaking marks a transformative leap for Parlier High School, ushering in a new era of specialized CTE learning. This 7,929-square-foot structure is destined to become the dedicated hub for medical career and nursing studies, complete with adjoining exam simulation areas. A unique feature is its fluid layout, enabling educators to effortlessly transition from traditional classroom instruction to hands-on, practical learning experiences.
The CTE building’s scope reaches far beyond medical pathways. It encompasses two expansive teaching zones, providing the space for the growth of Criminology Courses and various other educational avenues. Additionally, it is designed to foster preparation and collaboration, catering to individualized learning and group teamwork.
While the groundbreaking ceremony symbolized the project’s onset, its culmination is anticipated in October 2023. This grand endeavor comes with an estimated price tag of approximately $7 million. The funding mix comprises $1.5 million in state funds, another $1.5 million from local bonds, and a substantial $4 million courtesy of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) program.
Dr. Gracie Guerrero, Superintendent of Parlier Unified School District, shared her enthusiasm for the project and underscored its significance for both the school and the community. This new facility aligns seamlessly with the district’s core mission of fostering a conducive learning environment and addressing vital medical service needs within the community.
As career technical education experiences rapid growth in Parlier and the broader Central Valley, this project stands as a symbol of hope for the future. Grand Dodson, AIA, from Darden Architects, illuminated how CTE pathways, especially in high-demand fields like health careers, instill students, parents, and the community with a sense of security. This exhilarating project underscores the unwavering commitment of Parlier Unified School District to empower students for promising futures and provide crucial services to the community. It is a testament to progress, development, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow.
